Building Permits & Inspections

Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, alter, move, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to install, alter, repair, remove, or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by International Building Code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the Permit Division through the Vertex portal  and obtain the required permit. The link for the Vertex Portal is here and also on the main Planning and Development Services Department webpage. On that page, are also instructions for how to use the portal.

Forms & Checklists

***Applications are not considered submitted until all required documents are completed and payment is received. 

***Work done without a permit is subject to a fine or removal at owners cost. 

***Applications are not approved until permit is issued.

Within 48 hours of starting work in the Right-of-Way, please request locates through Utility Billing at utbilling@glennheightstx.gov.

Right-of-Way Inspection 

Before pouring concrete in the Right-of-Way, please email Charles Lowery at charles.lowery@glennheightstx.gov.
