Attraction and Retention of Employees: Market Relevant Wages


Up until now, the city has struggled to attract and retain talent largely due to the lack of competitive wages paid to every level of employee.  The City Manager, HR Director and Finance Director embarked on a mission to find solutions to this challenge.  Market relevant wages were determined by assessing a salary survey compared against 14 cities.  For the first time in history, the general employee group has market-relevant salaries.  This is very important because it helps with the attraction and retention of employees, best displayed through the retention of public safety officers, which historically had a higher turnover rate.
